My first semester in the wonderful world of nursing
Wednesday, March 04, 2009
I recently started the nursing program at ASU and am filled with excitement
concerning all that is ahead of me. I find the human body fascinating and
have a passion for taking care of people. When I think of working in
society, I cannot image myself doing anything else. I consider nursing a
profession that truly does change people’s lives. As a nurse I can care
for my patients medical needs but also be the person to smile kindly upon my
patient and listen to them in their tough time, so that maybe I can make
their day a little better. As a student in the nursing program my primary
focus is to learn so that I will be a nurse that meets the needs of patients
both physical and emotional, and have a knowledge base that will allow me to
react properly in all kinds of situations. I maintained a 4.0 GPA in my
prerequisite classes and I plan to work hard and continue that effort in the
nursing program. Professionally I aspire to work as an ER or trauma nurse. I
work well under pressure and feel that I will enjoy the fast pace of ER or
trauma. I hope to use the experience I gain in ER to travel as a nurse for a
few years around the US. If I am awarded this scholarship, it will allow me
to continue my nursing education at ASU and pursue my desire to work in the
wonderful field of nursing.
